Course goals
The course goal is to provide knowledge and foundations in biology of the brain and nervous system. The course provides basic fundamental knowledge in two main areas: cellular neurophysiology and systems neurophysiology.
Course topics
Cellular neurophysiology: membrane permeability and ion transport, action potential, synaptic transmission, learning and memory, dendrites, neuronal computation, optogenetics and its uses.
Systems neurophysiology: sensory and motor systems, receptors in sensory systems and signal transduction, neuronal coding, neuronal processing of sensory information and motor output
