M.SC. Track in Brain Science

The M.Sc. track in Brain Science includes two main components: completing a set of courses and writing a dissertation. The duration of the program is 2 years, where students devote the first year primarily to the courses. Students are expected to submit their research proposals before the end of the first semester of the second year, and should submit their thesis by the end of the second year.

Formal requirements:

The training program includes three core courses, preparatory courses, and additional required and complementary courses and seminars.

Preparatory courses:

Every student is expected to complete a set of preparatory courses that is determined according to their own academic background, to bring all students to a common ground in mathematics and biology. These preparatory courses must be completed in the first semester of the first year.. 

Program curriculum:

The program requires to complete 14 credit points. You must pick at least one course from each module.

Machine learning and neural networks for neuroscience

Signal and Data analysis 

Data science and advanced Python concepts workshop for neuroscience

Data Science Applications in Neuroscience

Biological module (pick one):

Neurobiology - Introduction to cellular and systems neurophysiology (for students with no background in brain sciences)

Advanced Neurophysiology

Synaptic Neurochemistry

Cognitive module (pick one):

Brain Imaging of Language Functions

Brain and Cognition Research in the 21 Century

Participation in Brain Science department seminar is mandatory (no credit points)
