    חקר התקשורת בין המיקרוביום ומערכות החיסון והעצבים, בבריאות ובחולי

    אנו חוקרים את המנגנונים התאיים, המולקולריים והגנטיים המתווכים את התקשורת בין המיקרוביום של המעי לבין המאחסן, ובפרט מערכת החיסון ומערכת העצבים של המעי. מטרתנו היא למפות כיצד האותות הבין-תאיים הללו מעצבים את קבלת ההחלטות של מערכת החיסון, ומטים את האיזון בין סבילות חיסונית לדלקת, הן במצב בריא והן במצבים כגון מחלות אוטואימוניות ודלקתיות כרוניות, מחלות נוירודגנרטיביות וסרטן. לשם כך אנו משלבים פלטפורמות מתקדמות של תרביות תלת-ממד של איברי מעי, מיקרוסקופיה ברזולוציה גבוהה, ריצוף דנ״א וכן כלים ניסיוניים וחישוביים, במטרה לפתוח טיפולים מבוססי-מיקרוביום למחלות דלקתיות ועצביות.
